A river, about 499 km (310 mi) long, of west-central Canada flowing between Lake Athabasca in northeast Alberta and Great Slave Lake in the southern Northwest Territories. It forms the central section of the Mackenzie River system. River, northern Alberta and southern Northwest Territories, Canada.
