If a doctor determines that a claimant can return to work while healing but places restrictions on the physical activities, the claimant is considered to be on light duty, also known as modified duty or restricted duty The employer does not have to put the claimant back to work with restrictions If they say that the claimant may not return to work until they can perform full duty, they must pay temporary total disability benefits
