Using two eyes or viewpoints; especially, using two eyes or viewpoints to ascertain distance
{a} having or containing two eyes
{s} two-eyed; for two eyes
Pertaining to both eyes; employing both eyes at once; as, binocular vision
an optical instrument designed for simultaneous use by both eyes
Having two eyes
Both eyes
(L bini =two + oculus =eye)
an optical instrument designed for simultaneous use by both eyes relating to both eyes; "binocular vision
vision typical of mammals in which the same object is viewed by both eyes the coordination of the two images permits perception of distance
A pair of small telescopes, one for each eye, used to magnify distant objects
A binocular glass, whether opera glass, telescope, or microscope
Adapted to the use of both eyes; as, a binocular microscope or telescope
relating to both eyes; "binocular vision"
Of or involving both eyes at once
Designating any instrument in which both eyes can be used to view the image to achieve a stereoscopic effect, or merely to facilitate observation A pair of telescopes with prismatically erected images, mounted side by side with the eyepieces at the interocular distance of the observer
binocular disparity
depth cue based on difference in images as the image reaches each of the two eyes
binocular disparity
The difference in the views seen by each eye
binocular disparity
the small positional differences in the images formed in the two eyes which arise because they have slightly different viewpoints on the world
binocular microscope
a light microscope adapted to the use of both eyes
binocular microscope
microscope designed to be looked through with both eyes at once
binocular vision
the simultaneous use of the two eyes Normal binocular vision yields a stereoscopic image and depth perception
binocular vision
The brain's combining of the images from the two eyes into a single impression
binocular vision
Is the ability of both eyes to look at the same object Someone with no binocular vision will have poor near depth perception Things like steps and doorways may be a problem
binocular vision
the ability to use both eyes at once
binocular vision
The ability to maintain visual focus on an object with both eyes, creating a single visual image Lack of binocular vision is normal in infants Adults without binocular vision experience distortions in depth perception and visual measurement of distance
binocular vision
Overlapping fields of vision in which both eyes can focus on a distant object to produce a stereoscopic (three-dimensional) image
binocular vision
blending of the separate images seen by the two eyes Normal binocular vision produces a stereoscopic image and parallax-induced depth perception
binocular vision
Vision using both eyes working together to perceive a single image
binocular vision
The blending of the separate images seen by each of two eyes into a single image Normal binocular vision yields a stereoscopic image and parallax-induced depth perception
binocular vision
vision involving the use of both eyes
binocular vision
Each eye looking at the same object sees a slightly different image Binocular vision is the ability to fuse these two images into one and gives us the ability to perceive depth and judge distances See also stereopsis
binocular vision
The blending of the separate images seen by each eye into a single image; allows images to be seen with depth
binocular vision
The blending of the separate images seen by each eye into a single image going to the brain, allowing three dimensional images, which leads to depth perception
binocular vision
the ability to focus both eyes on one object, which humans, monkeys, and some birds and other animals have
binocular vision
the ability of the visual cortex (located in the occipital lobe of the brain) to combine the impulses it receives from the images on the retinas of both eyes into one single image
binocular vision
Vision as a result of both eyes working as a team; when both eyes work together smoothly, accurately, equally and simultaneously
binocular vision
The zone defined by the intersection of the two shapes that define the right and left monocular visions The zone that can be seen by both the right and left eyes
binocular vision
vision which utilizes both eyes at once
binoculars
A hand-held device consisting of a series of lenses and prisms, used to magnify objects so that they can be better seen from a distance, and looked at through both eyes
binoculars
Binoculars consist of two small telescopes joined together side by side, which you look through in order to look at things that are a long way away. Optical instrument for providing a magnified view of distant objects, consisting of two similar telescopes, one for each eye, mounted on a single frame. In most binoculars, each telescope has two prisms, which reinvert the inverted image provided by the eyepiece of each telescope. Light rays travel along a folded path inside the telescopes, so the instrument has a shorter overall length. The prisms also provide better depth perception at greater distances, by allowing the two objectives (object lenses) to be set farther apart than the eyepieces. Binocular eyepieces are often fitted to microscopes or other optical instruments
