() The Australian island state of Tasmania has the largest apple-growing industry in the country, and was one of the main apple-growing areas in the world for many years. The apple industry is no longer as strong as it was in the last century, and agriculture in the state is more diversified, but the name has remained, partially due to the fact that Tasmania is also vaguely shaped like an apple.
