In T1, an all ones condition used to alert a receiver that its incoming signal (or frame) has been lost The loss of signal or frame is detected at the receiving end, and the failed signal is replaced by all the ones condition which the receiver interprets as an AIS The normal response to this is AIS is for the receiving end to generate a yellow alarm signal as part of its transmission towards the faulty end (The AIS itself is sometimes called a Blue Signal)
