Providence is God, or a force which is believed by some people to arrange the things that happen to us. These women regard his death as an act of providence. = fate. A seaport and an industrial and commercial centre, it is the focus of a metropolitan area that includes Pawtucket and East Providence. Educational institutions include Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design
