- Chiasm is present when a passage has a sandwich-like structure For example, Psalm 26 is chiastic In this psalm, walking in integrity and fidelity are found in v 1-3 and v 11-12, and temple and ungodly appear in vv 4-5 and vv 8-10 Vv 6-7 tell of a different idea This psalm might be pictured as a sandwich: bread on the outside, buttered, with cheese in the centre The structure can be represented schematically as A-B-C-B-A Other structures also occur in the Bible
