- Delinking is the process of severing the tie between the detail of the financial transaction (i.e. agreeing the amount that should be paid) and the actual instruction to pay. Delinking enables the bureau to check the financial details earlier, so issues get resolved sooner, rather than delaying settlement. Delinked transactions are significantly more likely to be paid on time since errors are resolved before the intended settlement date
