A soft suede leather, originally from the antelope but now made from sheepskin, used in cleaning and polishing
chamois: a soft suede leather formerly from the sheep of the chamois antelope but now from sheepskin
This soft leather was first made from the skins of the Alpine antelope, or chamois, now practically extinct At present, it is made from the fleshers or the underside of sheepskins, oil-dressed, suede- finished, and used chiefly for cleaning and polishing purposes, as well as for gloves
