A range of the central Alps primarily in eastern Switzerland and along the Italian and Austrian borders. It rises to Piz Bernina, 4,051.6 m (13,284 ft) high, in the Bernina section of the range on the Italian border. Segment of the central Alps located mainly in Switzerland but also extending along the Italian-Swiss and Austrian-Swiss borders. Bernina Peak, on the Italian border, is the highest point, at elevation 13,284 ft (4,049 m).
