Etimoloji
() From the mispronunciation of the word "English" common to Japanese speakers who have difficulty distinguishing "L" and "R" sounds. The word for England or Great Britain - イギリス (Igirisu) is from the English English. The nasal /ŋ/ for g and truncated short vowels add the similarity. The Japanese transliteration of English - イングリッシュ (Ingurishu) is also often used for teaching purposes. In both words /ɽ/ sound (romanised as "r") is pronounced instead of the English /l/.
