One of the two members of the l B Falsh family to emigrate from Abu Dhabi to Dubayy in 1833 was Ba ibn Suhayl, father of Maktm ibn Ba, the first ruler of Dubayy (r. 1833-52). The current ruler, Maktm ibn Rshid, who is also vice president of the UAE, is the ninth of the dynasty. The Maktm are a branch of the same Ban Ys confederation that includes the Nahyn, rulers of Abu Dhabi
