Non-Uniform Memory Access This term is generally used to describe a shared-memory computer containing a hierarchy of memories, with different access times for each level in the hierarchy The distinguishing feature is that the time required to access memory locations is not uniform; i e , access times to different locations can be different
Non-Uniform Memory Access (or Architecture) A form of memory where access times are not constant See the NUMA section of the HPCinfo SMP page for more details
Non-Uniform Memory Architecture Usually on an SMP system, all memory beyond the caches costs an equal amount to reach for each CPU In NUMA systems, some memory can be accessed more quickly than other parts Later kernels have some NUMA support for preferring to use memory "nearer" to the CPU, rather than higher-latency distant memory See Documentation/vm/numa for details
Nonuniform memory access architecture Amount of time for processes to access memory across hypernodes is nonuniform depending upon where data is stored

Numa Denis Fustel de Coulanges
born March 18, 1830, Paris, France died Sept. 12, 1889, Massy French historian. He had a brilliant teaching career at the University of Strasbourg (1860-70) and later received other academic appointments.
