protozoan
Any of the diverse group of eukaryotes, of the phylum Protozoa, that are primarily unicellular, existing singly or aggregating into colonies, are usually nonphotosynthetic, and are often classified further into phyla according to their capacity for and means of motility, as by pseudopods, flagella, or cilia
animal consisting only of one cell with a well-defined nucleus
A single-celled animal
of or relating to the Protozoa
One of the Protozoa
of, pertaining to, or characteristic of a protozoan
A single celled animal
microscopic unicellular or acellular animal
{s} (Biology) pertaining to the Protozoa (phylum comprised of single-celled organisms)
Any of a phylum or subkingdom (Protozoa) of chiefly motile and heterotrophic unicellular protists (as amoebas, trypanosomes, sporozoans, and paramecia) that are represented in almost every kind of habitat
A member of the large group of single celled animals, the protozoa
Protozoa are very small organisms which often live inside larger animals. , pro·to·zo·on protozoa protozoans a very small living thing that has only one cell. Any of a group of small (usually microscopic) single-celled protists. They are found in most soils, fresh water, and oceans. While most are solitary individuals, various colonial forms exist. The taxonomic relationships of protozoans to one another and to other protists continue to be revised. The smallest known protozoans are tiny blood parasites less than 2 microns long; the largest may be 16 mm long and visible to the naked eye. Protozoan shapes vary, but all share such eukaryotic features as lipid-protein membranes and membrane-enclosed vacuoles and organelles (see eukaryote). They show wide variation in modes of movement, nutrition, and reproduction. Various classification systems exist to group the protozoans. The major phyla include Sarcomastigophora (flagellated forms and forms possessing cytoplasmic extensions called pseudopodia), Ciliophora (ciliated forms), and Apicomplexa, Microspora, and Myxozoa (spore-producing forms). Apicomplexa and Microspora are sometimes included in the single phylum Sporozoa. Commonly known protozoans include dinoflagellates, amoebas, and paramecia (see paramecium)
A single-cell organism, usually free living but sometimes parasitic like MSX
Protozoans are organisms, such as cryptosporidium, that have a life-cycle with several stages, some of which allow them to pass through a chlorine disinfection process unharmed
any of diverse minute acellular or unicellular organisms usually nonphotosynthetic
(Protozoaire)
Of or pertaining to the Protozoa
{i} any eukaryotic organism (usually single-celled) from the kingdom Protista
